Coinnote · AI receipt ledger

Coinnote Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 4, 2026

In short

Who we are and what we don't do

Coinnote is made by Nanologics. You don't need an account to use Coinnote. The app has no ads, analytics, crash-reporting tools or third-party SDKs, and it doesn't track you across other apps or websites. We don't sell, rent or share your personal information. Coinnote has AI features that use our server; the sections below explain exactly what is sent, who processes it and what is kept.

Where your data is stored

Coinnote stores your expense entries (date, title, amount, currency, category, payment method, note and receipt line items), your categories, and your settings (main currency, monthly budget, app lock). This data lives only on your iPhone. There's no iCloud sync and no cloud ledger, so we can't see it. Receipt photos and screenshots are used only to read that one entry; Coinnote doesn't keep them. Data on your iPhone is included in your own device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup), which are handled by Apple.

AI features: what is sent, and when

Coinnote has four AI features, and content is sent only when you tap one:

• Scan receipt: the receipt photo you take or pick from your library.

• Say it: the expense text you say or type (the audio isn't sent, only the transcribed text).

• Import: the card or bank app screenshots you choose (up to 3), or the card alert text you paste.

• Monthly summary: the month's summary numbers (total, number of entries, budget, category totals and the comparison with the same days last month), with no individual entries or store names.

So the AI can fill things in correctly, the first three also send your category names, your main currency and today's date. Photos are resized on your phone before they're sent, with location and other camera details removed. AI results are always shown to you first, and nothing goes into your ledger until you tap Save. Your ledger itself is never sent.

Before you use an AI feature for the first time, Coinnote shows what it will send and asks for your consent; if you don't agree, nothing is sent. Each time you use one, the content travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our server, which runs on Google Cloud Run in Google's Taiwan region (asia-east1). The server passes it to Anthropic's Claude API and sends the result back to your phone. Each request also carries the app's interface language and the App Store proof described below. Anthropic may process the content outside your country, for example in the United States.

What our server keeps

Our server uses your content only to answer that request and then discards it; it doesn't store your photos or text or write them to its logs. To keep the service working, it keeps only the following:

• A usage code. Each AI request includes the App Store's proof that your Apple Account got the app (an Apple-signed AppTransaction). After checking it, the server turns its transaction ID into a salted hash: a pseudonymous code that can't be traced back to your Apple Account or to you. Only two records are kept under that code: your usage for the day, used for the daily limit and deleted automatically after 2 days; and the number of free AI uses you've had, kept until one year after your last free use and then deleted automatically.

• Purchase proof. Once you've bought the unlock, the app also sends the Apple-signed transaction for that purchase so the server can confirm it. The server checks it and doesn't store it.

• Operational logs without content: which app and feature was used, token counts, cost, the result status and how long it took. We use them to keep costs in check and fix problems.

• Connection logs. As with any website, Google Cloud's request logs record the IP address and user agent (device and system version) of each connection. Google Cloud keeps these logs, and the operational logs above, for 30 days by default.

None of this is linked to your identity, used to track you, or sold to anyone.

How Anthropic (Claude) handles it

Anthropic, the company behind Claude, processes what we send under its commercial terms: it doesn't use it to train its models, and it keeps it only for a limited time to detect abuse and keep the service safe, then deletes it. For details, see Anthropic's privacy policy at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy and its Privacy Center at https://privacy.anthropic.com.

Turning AI off

In Settings → AI & your data, turn off Allow AI features to withdraw your consent. Coinnote then sends nothing, and it asks you again before the next time you use an AI feature. Adding expenses by hand, your ledger, budget and stats keep working.

Sharing and export

Coinnote never sends your ledger to anyone. In Settings you can export all entries as a CSV file; where that file goes is up to you.

Permissions

Coinnote only asks for access when a feature needs it. Saying no won't affect anything else, and you can change your mind any time in the iPhone Settings app.

Camera
Used to scan receipts (the iPhone document camera). The photo is used only to read that receipt; it isn't saved to your library or kept by Coinnote. If you decline, the other ways of adding expenses still work.
Microphone
Listens only while you've tapped the microphone button in Say it. Nothing is recorded to a file.
Speech Recognition
Turns what you say into text. When your device supports it, Coinnote asks for recognition right on the iPhone; on devices that don't, iOS may send the audio to Apple's speech recognition servers, under Apple's privacy policy. Only the resulting text goes to the AI; audio never reaches our server.
Face ID
Used only if you turn on the app lock. Recognition is handled by iOS; Coinnote never gets your face data.

Other details

Photos

To choose a receipt or card screenshots, Coinnote uses the iOS photo picker, so it only gets the photos you pick and doesn't need access to your library. Coinnote doesn't ask for access to notifications, location, contacts or health data.

Siri and Shortcuts

You can ask Siri to log an expense or scan a receipt with Coinnote, or ask how much you've spent this month. The first two open Coinnote, and what you said goes into Say it for you to check. Asking about this month's spending needs your iPhone to be unlocked, and if the app lock is on, Siri asks you to open the app instead. What you say to Siri is handled by Apple under its privacy policy.

No financial advice

The monthly summary only describes your numbers. Coinnote doesn't give financial, investment or tax advice. The AI can misread things, so check the amount and date before you save.

Purchases, free uses and information from Apple

Coinnote is free to download. Each Apple Account gets 10 free AI uses; after that, a one-time in-app purchase (non-consumable) unlocks unlimited AI, with no subscription. Features that don't use AI are always free. Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple; we never receive your payment details or Apple Account information. Apple gives developers anonymous, aggregated statistics (such as download counts), and if you've turned on “Share with App Developers” on your device, Apple may also share crash logs that don't identify you. Apple handles this information under its own privacy policy.

Deleting your data

You can delete any entry in the app, and Settings has Delete all entries (your categories and settings are kept). Deleting Coinnote deletes all of its data from your phone. Copies in your device backups are managed by Apple's backup features.

The usage code and counts on our server are deleted automatically on the schedule above. Because the code can't be traced back to you, we can't look up your records by name or email; if you have questions, email support@edgelingo.com. Deleting the app doesn't reset your free AI uses: that count belongs to your Apple Account, not to the phone.

Children's privacy

Coinnote is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you have any concerns, please email us.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If a change affects how your data is handled, we'll also mention it in the app's release notes.
